Petal & Polish

A small studio with an unhurried pace

Dana Whitfield opened Petal & Polish on LaSalle Road with six tables, good light and one rule: nobody should feel rushed out of the chair.

We book with room to breathe, sterilize every metal tool in an autoclave, and choose polishes we’re happy to wear ourselves. The result is a quieter kind of nail salon, closer to a café than an assembly line.

Most of our clients live or work within a few miles of Blue Back Square. Many have been coming every three weeks since the day we opened.

Meet the artists

Four artists, each with at least six years behind the table. You can book a favorite or take the first open time.

  • Dana Whitfield smiling, seated on a wooden stool in a cream jumpsuit

    Structured gel and nail health

Dana founded Petal & Polish after twelve years at salons in Hartford and Boston. Book her if your nails are thin, peeling or recovering from acrylic.

  • Mina Cho in a white shirt with blush-pink hair against a sand-colored wall

    Mina Cho

    Hand-painted nail art

Mina studied illustration before nails. Fine lines, florals and tiny characters are her favorite requests, and she will sketch your idea on a tip first.

  • Amara Diallo smiling in a soft beige hijab against a terracotta backdrop

    Amara Diallo

    Gel-X extensions and French

Amara shapes Gel-X sets that look like your own nails, only longer. Her French smile lines are the most requested look in the gallery.

  • Sofia Ramírez smiling, one hand on her hip, in front of a pale circular backdrop

    Sofia Ramírez

    Pedicures and spa care

Sofia runs the pedicure lounge. Her Petal Spa Pedicure, with hot stones and a long massage, is the service clients rebook most.

Studio policies

The short version of how we keep the schedule kind to everyone.

  • Running late

We hold your chair for 15 minutes. After that we may shorten the service so the next client isn’t kept waiting, or move you to a later time that day.

  • Cancellations

Please give us 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and missed appointments are charged 50% of the booked services.

  • Gift cards

Gift cards come in any amount from $25, by email or in a letterpress card from the front desk. They never expire and work for every service.
